The Peacock Spider

It is a species of jumping spider.
The red, blue and black colored males have flap-like extensions of the abdomen with white hairs that can be folded down. They are used for display during mating: the male raises his abdomen, then expands and raises the flaps so that the abdomen forms a white-fringed, circular field of color

Like giant goldfish, these massive whale sharks don't mind being fed hand to mouth by their fishermen friends.
Photographed near Oslob in the Philippines, the groundbreaking images show close relationship previously not thought possible.
Captured by conservationist Shawn Heinrichs, the once-in-a-lifetime behaviour of the half dozen whale sharks up to 25ft long and the 12 or so fishermen draws gasps of disbelief from casual observers.
The food-based friendship centres around the brine shrimp the fishermen are catching and the trust between man and the world's largest fish is evident to see.

Allegedly, these homes in Iran, carved out of solid rock, were built on the order of 700 years ago and are still inhabited by people who have given them modern touches (you know, the little things like windows, doors, and electricity). Pretty impressive when you consider that houses in America barely survive a century without extensive maintenance.

I specifically flew to a small group of islands in Malaysia to get this photo. How did I know this existed? I saw it on Google+ about 6 months ago! I'd wanted to see it for myself, but I didn't read much about it and the pic I'd seen was very small. I assumed it was a road, but it's actually a footbridge. Head to Langkawi to see it. The bridge is 2,300 feet above sea level and there's an awesome view from up here.

I had some computer trouble, but I got a new laptop and I'm back on the interewebz and in Hong Kong now. If you have some ideas for good photo spots in Hong Kong please share. All I've seen is Tai O, Victoria's Peak, the building skyline on the water, and Disneyland haha.

How would you like to swim in a pool filled with delicious, sugary cola? Artist Mike Bouchet, who started making his own cola in 2004, recently tried out this insane idea. On July 4th, in Twentynine Palms, California, the artist filled a swimming pool (oddly at the former home of sugary British 60’s singer Donovan) with 100,000 liters of homemade Diet Cola. The Cola Pool is the culmination of several cola based art work by the artist which includes paintings made using cola as paint and a Cola Fountain.

Heroic Mother!

During an early morning response to a house fire in Santa Rosa de Temuco, Chile, firefighters witnessed the unbelievable. A mother dog risked her life to save her puppies from the fire surrounding the burning house, which started because of a car bomb.
The mother dog, Amanda, raced back and forth between the house, putting her 10 day old puppies in the safest place she could find - a firetruck!

She didn't stop racing back into the fire until all of her puppies were safely away from the fire. The firemen on scene could not believe their eyes. Most people have never seen a dog this smart or this brave!

After rescuing all of her pups from the blaze, Amanda sat down next to them, protecting them with her body. Onlookers called an emergency veterinary service and she and her pups were rushed to the hospital. Aside from one puppy being treated for serious burns, the entire family are alive and well - thanks to the bravery of Amanda! What a heroic mother!

DIFFERENT USES FOR COLA

DIFFERENT USES FOR COLA

The main use for Cola is as a beverage, but there are other things it can be used for. Learning the other uses for Cola can save you money on purchasing several different products. For example, Cola can remove stains and rust on metal. That's now two products you don't have to buy.

Removing Rust and Hard Water
Cola can remove rust from nails and from the bumper of your car. To remove rust on a small object, fill a plastic cup with Cola. Then add the rusted metal object. Leave it overnight and then wipe the rust off with an old rag. To remove rust from larger metal you will need a sheet of aluminum foil. Roll the aluminum foil up in to a ball and dip in the Cola so that it is covered on all sides with the liquid. Rub it in a circle over the rust. You may need to apply the Coke a few times and then rub, but it will work.

It is also used in removing hard water from your bathroom tiles and toilet bowls.

Stain Removal
Cola contains acid that can remove grease and blood stains from fabric. Fill your washing machine and add your normal amount of laundry detergent. Then add one can of Cola. Place a load of laundry in the washing machine including the items with the stains. When the wash cycle is over, your clothing will be stain free.

As Medicine
Cola is often used to treat upset stomachs. You must first let the Cola sit out and become flat. If you are feeling nauseous you will want to sip the flat Cola every ten minutes or so until your stomach begins to feel better. If you have an upset stomach due to diarrhea, you can drink the Cola at a faster rate. Your stomach will be feeling better in no time.

Removing Pests
If you have a problem with slugs or snails you can use Cola as both bait and poison. Pour the Cola in a small dish and watch the sugar attract the slugs and snails. Once the pests get on the dish the acid will destroy them. Cola also works to remove bugs from a car windshield. Just pour the Cola over the bugs on the windshield and wait 10 seconds. Use your windshield wipers and the bugs will easily come off.

For Cooking
You can use Cola as a marinade to make meats more tender. Pour a can of Cola in a mixing bowl and then add a dry packet of Italian dressing mix. Stir the two together and place your meat in the bowl. Make sure the meat is covered on both sides by the mixture. Cover with plastic wrap and set in the refrigerator for 2-4 hours before cooking. Your meat will be nice and tender

Morning Glory Pool (Hole), Wyoming, USA

Morning Glory Pool (Hole), Wyoming, USA

This is one of the most prominent and prettiest thermal pools in the Yellowstone park. The depth of this pool ( natural hole) is 4 meters (13ft). The "Morning Glory Pool" was given its name in the 1880 for its resemblance to a morning glory flower.

The distinct color of the pool is due to bacteria which inhabit the water. However, this pool was once in danger of losing its colors when the Grand Loop Road used to pass close to it, which increased the likelihood of thoughtless visitors throwing coins into it - thus causing the pool to cool and jeopardize the existence of the color-causing bacteria that thrive within. Today, you'll have to do a little walking along the Upper Geyser Basin to get to the pool, and it's well worth the exercise.
