Chiesa Santa Maria dell'Isola Church at Tropea, Italy
From the belvedere at the bottom of the main square, Piazza Ercole, the church and Benedictine monastery of Santa Maria dell'Isola glisten on a rocky promontory above an aquamarine sea. The path out to the church is lined with fishermen's caves. Dating to medieval times, the church was remodeled in the Gothic style, then given another face-lift after an earthquake in 1905.
